Car Insurance Dodge (Car Insurance). Upgrading my 12" sub what can my amp handle?Upgrading my 12" sub what can my amp handle? I have a 250 rms JBL 12" Subwoofer in a sealed box. I'm looking for something that'll hit harder, possible 2 12"s? my amp is a Kenwood KAC 8104D - amplifier. My Amp -> http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_19264_Kenwood_KAC-8104D.aspx I'm trying to keep it under 200$ I don't no anything about installing myself. I had car toys install it and there is a wire going into the back of my amp. If i buy a box/sub can i just plug the wires in the back of it? Can my amp handle 2 12's? or should i get a better single 12"? any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help! I would go with these ones http://www.amazon.com/Kicker-CompVR-07CVR124-12-Inch-Subwoofer/dp/B000N8MW8C Their SVC 4-Ohm so you can wire both down to 2 Ohms and since your amp is 2-Ohm stable the subs will be getting all the 500 watts RMS and 1000 watts peak Go here to wire them and save money, look for the on that says 2 SVC drivers with Voice Coils in Parallel, it should be at the top, then wire them like the picture shown. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=160 if I were you, I would get 1 Alpine Type-R in a ported box. That will work on your amp fine, and they hit hard and sound great. Under your $200 price with a box too. You will have a harder time finding 2 12" subs with that kind of amp to get what you want. Dodge . How Do I Remove an SRS Airbag From a 2002 Dodge 2500?You can remove the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) airbags from your '02 Dodge 2500 right from your home garage, saving yourself some time and money. Although airbags are considered to be an essential safety feature, some people prefer to remove them to prevent accidents caused by airbag deployment. Removing the airbags is a relatively easy procedure, but make sure you follow the steps correctly to prevent injuring yourself in the process. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Socket wrench set 2002 Dodge 2500 owner's manual Screwdriver Wire cutters Step by Step : 1 Lift up the hood of the Dodge and use the socket wrench set to loosen the retaining nuts on the battery cable clamps. Slide the cable clamps from the battery terminals. Wait about a half hour for the residual battery charge to drain out. This is a very important safety step. 2 Find the location of the airbag fuses in your owner's manual. Open the fuse panel cover, which can be found on the driver's side dashboard. Remove the fuse puller and use it to remove the appropriate fuses using the fuse puller. Set them aside. 3 Find two screws on the back of the steering column that hold the airbag in place. Remove the screws with a screwdriver. As you do this, make sure your face and body are out of the airbag's line of fire. 4 Slide the airbag out carefully from the middle part of the steering wheel. Cut the wires attached to the airbag with wire cutters. Set the airbag in a safe location away from children and pets. 5 Open up the glove box and unhook the straps that hold it open. Unscrew the glove box with a screwdriver and pull it out of the dashboard. Unbolt the airbag using a socket wrench, again taking extreme caution to protect your body as you do this. Unhook the power cable on the rear of the airbag. Take the airbag out of the compartment. 6 Reinstall the glove box, screwing it in and reattaching the straps. Close the door to the glove box. 7 Put the airbag fuses back in their proper place within the fuse panel and close the fuse panel cover. Reconnect the battery cables and tighten the retaining nuts.
Dodge . How to Replace the Steering Wheel for a Nissan AltimaIf the factory steering wheel on your Nissan Altima automobile just isn't up to your style standards, replacing it with an aftermarket custom wheel can add a bit of your personal style to the car. Of course, there are other situations that will require you to remove and replace the wheel that have nothing to do with aesthetics. Most work on the steering column will also require you to remove the wheel. Though removing the steering wheel is a fairly simple task, it does require you to work with the airbag assembly, which demands caution. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Socket set Small flat-head screwdriver Awl or permanent marker Steering wheel puller (Nissan part # J-25726-A) Rubber mallet Step by Step : 1 Disconnect both battery cables, starting with the negative cable. Wait at least three minutes before you begin work near the air bag module to allow residual electricity to dissipate. 2 Use a small flat-head screwdriver to remove the covers on the right and left airbag module bolts. The bolts are located on the rear of the steering wheel on each side. Use a socket wrench to remove both bolts. 3 Lift the airbag module off the steering wheel far enough to disconnect the two airbag module connectors. To disconnect them, use a flat-head screwdriver to lift up the center tab to unlock it, then pull the connector straight off. Place the airbag module in a safe location, facing up. 4 Position the front wheels straight ahead. Use an indelible marker or an awl to place a mark on the top center of the steering wheel shaft. This will allow you to reinstall the new wheel in the correct position. Use a socket wrench to remove the steering wheel lock nut from the center of the steering wheel. 5 Attach the steering wheel puller to the steering wheel. The two bolts on the side of the puller attach to the holes on each side of the steering wheel center shaft. Turn the center bolt on the puller clockwise, using the socket wrench. This will force the wheel off the shaft. 6 Place the new steering wheel in position on the steering wheel shaft. Make sure that the mark you placed on the shaft is aligned with the top center of the new wheel. Seat the steering wheel far enough on the shaft to replace the lock nut. If necessary, tap the wheel with a rubber mallet to seat it on the shaft, ensuring that it remains aligned with the mark on the shaft. 7 Use a socket wrench to tighten the lock nut, forcing the steering wheel into place on the shaft. Tighten the lock nut to 25 ft.-lbs. of torque. 8 Place the airbag assembly near the steering wheel and connect the two airbag module connectors. Press down the center tab on the connector to lock it into place. 9 Route the steering wheel switch wires below the center of the airbag inflater so they are not pinched between the airbag and the steering wheel. Position the airbag on the steering wheel by rotating it counterclockwise onto the wheel. Reinsert the two airbag module bolts and tighten them to 8 ft.-lbs. of torque. Reattach the bolt lids. Step by Step : 10 Connect the positive battery cable, followed by the negative cable. Position yourself to the side of the airbag and turn the ignition to the "On" position. Make sure the airbag warning light does not stay lit. If it does, this indicates that you connected the airbag improperly. Tips & Warnings You can usually rent a steering wheel puller from an auto parts store for a few dollars. Always keep your body away from the front of the airbag when removing and installing the airbag. If you've ever tried to open the hood of your vehicle or jack it up without the benefit of prior experience (or paying attention when someone else did it), you may feel as confused as they seem. That's why this part covers the things every driver should be able to do, safety tips that everyone who works on cars should know, and the tools you can use to get your vehicle running smoothly again. Getting into your car when you lock yourself out &» Taking things apart (and putting them back together again) f you're not particularly mechanically inclined, you may watch those who / are with admiration and amazement and exasperation because they have something you don't: an understanding of how things work and how things go together. When they take something apart, they can reassemble it back the way it was. When they say that they want to take a look under the hood, they can actually get the darn thing open. And when they need to change a flat, they don't spend ten minutes trying to figure out which end of the jack is up. The good news is that you don't have to be born with a wrench in your hand to know how to fix things even things as seemingly complicated as a car. I know; I've been there. The section in the Introduction called "How I Became Intimately Involved with My Car (and Why You'll Want to Do It, Too)" tells you all about my automotive epiphany. Of course, the simplest things can sometimes be the biggest hurdles to overcome. After all, if you can't even figure out how to open the hood, how can you check the oil or the coolant level? That's why I begin this book with a chapter on the basics. I explain simple tasks that you use again and again as you work on your vehicle like how to open the hood, jack up a car, and change a tire. I also include instructions for filling the tank with gas yourself (it's cheaper than full-service), a surefire method for taking anything apart and putting it back together again, and safety pointers that every mechanic experienced and beginner should heed.
